Ascot Country Fair Race Day
A great family day out is planned at Ascot on Sunday 30th March, when they will be holding their Country Fair Raceday. The event starts at 10:45, so you will have plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast with us at the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel.
Set in the beautiful countryside adjoining Windsor Great Park, Raceday will feature a highly competitive jumps card and you will have the opportunity to watch the well-known Iron Stand Veterans Handicap Steeple Chase and the Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase, which is run over 2 miles. Ticket prices start at £20.00, with children under 18 years going free. Parking is also free. However, booking early is advised and, as this event takes place in the Jumps Season, the dress code is more smart-casual. Visit the Ascot website for more details.
There are lots of opportunities to see the horses before the race: at the Pre-Parade Ring where the horses are saddled up 25 minutes prior to the race; the Parade Ring where you can take a look at the horses prior to making your bets; the Horse Walk as they are coming out of the tunnel; the Track where you can experience the rush of adrenaline as the horses thunder past you; and of course the Winners Enclosure where you can toast both the winning jockey and hopefully a win of your own.
Don’t worry about keeping the children entertained; over at the Plaza Lawns children are offered the opportunity to take part in: pony riding, falconry, family farm, face painting, lamb national and wall climbing. If you want a break from watching the horses, then you can always take a visit to the air rifle shooting range.
To round off a great day, enjoy a relaxing dinner back at the Sir Christopher Wren’s Thames View Restaurant, that serves modern European cuisine. We are open until late, but remember to book early as it is Mothering Sunday. For more information take a look at our website or contact us on 01753 442400. We look forward to welcoming you.
