Royal Berkshire County Show
Chieveley is once again the venue for this year’s Royal Berkshire County Show, and what a line up they have in store this year. This two-day event really rivals all others.
Taking you back through the 20th Century there will be a display of vintage tractors and other farming machinery, still in full working order, and a display of past farming methods and how they changed through the years. Keeping in with the vintage theme is an old fashioned funfair including a Victorian carousel!
Livestock is a big part of the show and you can see the best of Sheep, Pigs, Llamas and Alpacas to name just a few. If horses are your passion, then don’t miss out the BSJA International Stairway final, the Light & Heavy National Heavy Horse Driving Championships, and the British National Scurry Championship, who will be weaving around obstacles at great speed.
For the sportier of you, don’t miss the spectacular displays by Honda’s official UK stunt team, joined this year by the UK’s number one freestyle motocross team, Bolddog Lings, performing stunts seen on Britain’s Got Talent and their own brilliant tricks performed 35ft in the air!
The County Area is dedicated to rural crafts, displays from birds of prey and working gun dogs, whilst the Cookery Theatre brings you some of the top local chefs who will be sharing their helpful tips and recipe ideas for you to try at home. Over 500 shopping stands will ensure that you find some stylish and individual ideas for birthdays and perhaps even early Christmas presents! A mass ascent of hot air balloons marks the end of the first day and with so much on offer you will want to come back on Sunday.
