Royal Wedding Recap From Start To Finish
After months of preparation, the day finally came and delivered a truly beautiful scene to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It was the wedding of the year as twenty nine million tuned in to the wedding across fifteen different broadcast and cable networks. Now that the mayhem had been and gone, it’s time to look back at the most monumental moments of the big day.
- When the guests started to arrive
An invitation to the royal wedding must be the best thing that anyone could receive in their letter box this year. Harry and Meghan welcomed 600 guests to Windsor Castle and there were more than enough famous faces that we all recognized. Serena Williams, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, James Corden, Victoria and David Beckham, and the cast of Suits – but we all took a second glance when Chelsy Davy rocked up, Harry’s ex-girlfriend of seven years.
- Prince Harry and William
It was a touching moment when the nation saw Prince Harry and Prince William in their military uniforms, walking down the road towards the chapel. How proud their mother, the late Princess Diana, would be to see what fine men she raised!
- The Dress
Finally the moment that everyone had been waiting for – the first glimpse of the wedding dress! Meghan arrived at Windsor Castle wearing a beautifully designed dress by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. Rumor has it that the dress cost roughly around $340,000. Even with the heavy price tag, it won’t match the price of Kate Middleton’s custom Alexander McQueen gown in 2011, costing around $400,000.
- When Meghan walked down the aisle
One of the most iconic moments of any wedding is when the bride walks down the aisle, and that was certainly the case during this wedding. Meghan walked confidently down the aisle alone part of the way, then was escorted the rest of the way by her new father-in-law Prince Charles.
- Harry and Meghan at the altar
When Meghan finally got to her groom we could truly see the love they had for one another – and just like the rest of us, Prince Harry seemed to shed a tear during his royal wedding to Meghan. As they stood at the altar, they broke a royal tradition and held hands throughout the whole of the ceremony.
- Their picturesque exit from the chapel
To end the perfect fairytale wedding the church choir sang ‘This Little Light of Mine’ as Prince Harry and Meghan left the church. This was when Harry and Meghan shared their first kiss as a married couple to the world.
- After the wedding
The newlyweds hosted a private reception at Frogmore House to carry on the royal celebrations. Harry and Meghan arrived in style in an environmentally-friendly 1968 Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. Guests dined on posh burgers among other dishes, with candy floss on offer for those with a sweet tooth – and there was reportedly a cocktail on offer named When Harry Met Meghan, a reference to the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally.
- Engagement photos
Just three days after the big day, the official wedding photos were released – and they are dreamier than we had ever imagined. Three photos have been released, with one showing just the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex posing on the East Terrace, Windsor Castle, and a second of the lovebirds with their bridesmaids and pageboys in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle – they even got Prince George to smile! The final image adds the bride and groom’s family – the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Doria Ragland – along with the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, best man Prince William and his wife Kate.
