Summer Holidays in Windsor
This week has been the start of the Summer break for many children all across the country, and the start of many parents realising they need to come up with some exciting ways to keep little ones entertained for a full 6 weeks. We’ve come up with a handy list of the best activities for the Summer holidays in Windsor:
LEGOLAND®
If you are visiting Windsor with kids this Summer, or if you happen to live in the area, then LEGOLAND is a must visit! Featuring over 55 interactive rides, live shows, workshops, attractions and driving schools stretching across 150 acres of stunning Berkshire parkland, children are guaranteed to have an amazing time. There is so much to do and see at LEGOLAND, with 12 different Theme Lands to explore and attractions designed for ages 2 to 12.
Boating on the Thames
For a more unique Summer experience, book a spectacular boat trip along the river Thames with French Brothers. With travel from Windsor upsteam to Boveney Lock and back again taking about 40 minutes, the trip is popular with children because of its length. During the trip you will experience breathtaking views of Windsor Castle, Eton College, Mill House, Windsor Racecourse and Brocas Meadows. The starting point for the tours is close to The Home Park which offers excellent playgrounds and picnic areas.
Windsor Castle
No trip to Windsor is complete without paying a visit to the royal residence, which has been the family home to British kings and queens for over 1000 years. The 13 acre castle is the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of The Queen who spends a lot of her time there. There is so much to be explored at Windsor Castle, the kids will love watching the changing of the guard, or climbing the 200 steps to the iconic round tower. During the Summer holidays there will be a fierce ladies and naughty knights event taking place every day. Families can head back in time and discover what life was really like for those who occupied the castle in the medieval times.
Ascot Family Race Day
This weekend the King George VI Weekend will descend on Ascot Racecourse, bringing with it an exciting family fun day with entertainment for all ages. There is a star-studded line up of kids TV favourites, such as Peppa Pig & George, The Simpsons and Thomas the Tank Engine. The traditional English fete theme will include much loved games throughout the day including a coconut shy and cupcake decorating.
