Ever since its first show back in June 2005, the West Woodhay House Garden Show has increased in popularity and is now one of the highlights of the gardening calendar. This year the show has been entitled a ‘Festival of Gardening’ and offers two fantastic evenings.
On Friday 13th June, there will be a gala evening featuring the Pocket Orchestra. This is a hugely popular event, and guests are limited to 950, so book early to avoid being unlucky! The evening provides a preview to the whole show, including the show gardens, and is open between 6.00pm and 9.00 pm.
On Saturday evening, enjoy ‘A Night at the Opera, a candle-lit gala, featuring singers from the English National Opera plus Covent Garden and International Opera Houses. This really promises to be a most enthralling and high quality evening.
During the days, why not take a browse around the trade stands whilst admiring the main garden’s recent additions, the Rose Walk and the newly planted Jubilee Olympic Garden. The children will love the Enchanted Wood and treasure hunt, and everyone can get involved in the cooking demonstrations with Peter Osbourne of ‘The Big Chef’ fame and Paul O’Neill, the winner of the 30th Roux scholarship. One of the highlights of the day will be an RAF flypast featuring both a Spitfire and Hurricane from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (bring your own Biggles glasses and Dambuster themes).
Returning to the Sir Christopher Wren Hotel, enjoy a sumptuous European dinner in our Thames View Restaurant, followed by evening cocktails overlooking the River Thames at night. For more information go to our website or contact us on 01753 442400, we look forward to welcoming you.
