
Windsor Event Guide: What’s On This Summer
Windsor is getting back to normality this Summer with many great events heading to the Royal town over the coming months. Royal Ascot kicked off the Summer events calendar with a bang last week, and there is plenty more to follow. The famous races at Ascot first started in 1711 and are attended by the Queen every year. Last year the event took place behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but we were so pleased to see guests dressed up and heading to Ascot Racecourse this June. Royal Ascot is one of the most sought after events in Windsor, but now it’s all over until 2022, we are looking at the other celebrations taking place in our quaint town this Summer.
Royal Windsor Horse Show
Horse fans will rejoice at the thought of even more shows in Windsor this Summer. Royal Windsor Horse Show has been confirmed for July this year, and the event kicks off on 30th June with The British Olympic Dressage team, and general entry events starting on Thursday 1st July. The Horse Show features International Jumping, International Endurance, National Showing and much more. Taking place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle, some tickets are still available to purchase and the event is taking place in adherence with COVID-19 guidelines.
A Celebration Of Prince Philip At Windsor Castle
Following the passing of Prince Philip earlier this year, Windsor Castle are putting on a special display to commemorate his life. Running from 24th June to 20th September, visitors can explore the life of Britain’s longest serving consort. The impressive display will include The Prince’s early life and his naval career, as well as his time as consort and his dedicated support for The Queen. Throughout the event there will be focus on his range of patronages and associations, such as science, sport and conservation. The objects on display at Windsor Castle have been specially selected to highlight his close associations with the local Windsor community and the castle itself.
The Royal Windsor Steam Express
Visitors to Windsor this Summer can take a unique ride on the The Royal Windsor Steam Express and set off an a nostalgic adventure. The historic steam train is running three times a day from 1st June to 14th September and travels from Central London, through the beautiful countryside and into Windsor & Eton Riverside Station. If you are celebrating a special event or looking for a touch of luxury, you can choose to enjoy a Champagne Brunch whilst on board.
Hamlet At Theatre Royal Windsor
Theatre Royal Windsor has once again reopened its doors after a lengthy closure due to COVID-19. They will be running an impressive rendition of Hamlet from 21st June to 4th September, with social distancing measures in place for the audience. Ian McKellen stars as Hamlet in this reimagined age, colour and gender-blind production. You can explore Shakespeare’s unrelenting tale of revenge, madness and death in a way you have never seen before.
