Q&A with our Wedding Coordinator, John

Your wedding day is the most personal event that you’ll ever have to plan, as it’s about celebrating the love between you and your future wife or husband. As engagement season is upon us, it’s important to know where to start in the planning process. You can get easily confused where to begin, how much everything costs, and how to choose the right venue and suppliers. Planning a wedding isn’t about picking pretty flowers and decorations. There are often a number of logistical matters to attend to, so that’s why having a Wedding Planner can help take the stress away. We’ve asked our Wedding Coordinator, John a few questions so you can get an understanding about what we can do to help your wedding journey go as smooth as possible.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you’ve come to love planning Weddings

I’ve been heavily involved in Weddings since I was 18, from styled wedding photoshoots, to performing, helping with the running of the day, and now I get the opportunity to help couples plan their special day!

I love the joy when the family and friends arrive at the venue, when they get to see the couple sharing their vows, and everyone comes together for this one special day. It’s such a wonderful experience to be a part of that; to see all the months of planning and preparing, and for it to come together so beautifully.

What should a couple ask on their first meeting with their Wedding Coordinator?

Before you meet your coordinator, write down as many questions as you can, we’re happy to help!
Things to consider would be:

• What services does the Wedding Coordinator offer? Are they available to help with the full planning and will they be there on the day to oversee everything?
• Does the venue allow more than one wedding at the same time? (Some venues do allow two or more weddings, so be prepared!)
• How many meetings would you have leading up to the wedding?
• What would the running of the day be? (this is dependent on your requirements and will change for every wedding)

Why is a good wedding planner so valuable?

Having a good wedding planner is vital! We are experienced and can recommend some local suppliers that have worked successfully on our previous weddings. We’re here to help you any way we can, with planning, talking you through what is and isn’t possible, being your point of contact for all questions, and so much more. Remember, no question is silly so if you have a unique vision of your big day, a good wedding coordinator will do their best to achieve your goals.

What is your role on the wedding day?

I’m here to ensure that all the planning we’ve done together is followed through on the day. From all the tiny details such as the table setups, making sure your suppliers are setup and on time, liaising with the operations team whom are there to prepare your wedding day and to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

What’s your advice for future brides and grooms?

Ask questions and advice. Don’t be afraid to give tasks to your close family/friends – you certainly don’t want to be worrying about anything closer to or on the day!

Remember to eat, and to take 5 minutes together on your wedding day. You’d be surprised how the day flies by talking to every guest, couples sometimes don’t even see each other until the end of the night so it’s a great idea to take some time out to be alone and enjoy each other’s company on the day you’ve been planning for months.
