Top 5 Ways To Celebrate International Friendship Day In Windsor

International Friendship Day takes place on 30th July and it is the perfect excuse to get together with your loved ones and celebrate your mates. This special day dates back to the 1930s as a Hallmark card campaign, and was eventually moved to the date in July in 1958 by the World Friendship Crusade. In 2011, the General Assembly of United Nations declared 30th July as the International Day of Friendship and it has been celebrated on this day for the last decade.

There is no better place to spend some time with your best friends than Windsor. This weekend, round up your buddies and head out to celebrate International Friendship Day in the Royal Berkshire town. Our top picks for this weekend with your mates are:

1. Rally Your Friends On The River Thames

Windsor boasts one of the most picturesque locations right on the edge of the River Thames. You and your besties can hire a boat and explore the beautiful waterways in an unforgettable way. Either hire a boat for yourselves and discover the river Thames at your own pace, or enjoy a guided boat tour by some local experts. Fringilla offer private boat cruises along the Thames, or you can book a public cruise by French Brothers. You and your friends are sure to have an International Friendship Day to remember when you set sail on the UK’s most famous river!

2. Get Together At Windsor Great Park

Windsor Great Park spans across a huge 5,000 acres and is the ideal spot for catching up with friends this weekend. You can make even more friends with the 600 deer that call the park home, and spend the day exploring the grassland, ancient Oak trees and formal gardens. We recommend heading to the Long Walk which is flanked by plane and chestnut trees, and looks down to Windsor Castle. It is the perfect spot to get a great photo of you and your pals this International Friendship Day.

3. Explore 1000 Years Of Royalty

Windsor is most famous for being home of Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. This weekend, you and your besties can explore over 1000 years of Royal history. Discover the Royal Family and their impressive friends from over the years and take in the magnificent State Apartments and would famous 15th century St George’s Chapel. Currently there is a beautiful display commemorating the wonderful life and legacy of Britain’s longest serving consort, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke Of Edinburgh.

4. Set Out On A Shopping Spree

The Royal Windsor Shopping centre sits at the heart of the town and is a Grade II listed railway station, with over 40 stores inside. You and your pals can shop til you drop here, or head round to the high street which features many major brands. If you are on the hunt for something unique for your and your friends this weekend, look out for the many independent boutiques that are dotted around the Royal town.

5. Catch Up In A Riverside Restaurant
